The Indiana Fever’s 2025 title quest had many contributors despite an injury-laden season for the franchise. One of the most impactful mid-season signings for Stephanie White’s side was Aari McDonald, who played in 20 games and quickly adapted to the coach’s style of play and combined well with the team’s key players.
While fans and the franchise were looking to get her back for the next season, McDonald’s recent injury update leaves the Indiana Fever looking for answers. But the player now has some positive news on her injury.

Aari McDonald Injury Update
Playing in the Unrivaled league, for the Breeze BC, the Fever guard had to leave the court in her very first game due to a “right lower extremity injury”. This injury occurred shortly after her return from a broken right foot that ended her 2025 WNBA season with the Indiana Fever in August, and now from the Unrivaled league as well.
“I’m good y’all. Been grindin’ everyday to get back before the Unrivaled season ended, which was always the plan. But things didn’t work out the way we hoped for and we had to adjust. Overall, I’m grateful to be here, and I’m locked in on my return, which will be very soon,” McDonald wrote in her tweet.

Earlier, the guard shared a big relief foot injury scare, allowing her to play in the Unrivalled league. But just six minutes into the season, her injury ended her run in the 3-on-3 league. The general recovery time indicates the player could return to action well in time before the start of the season, which, as of now, is May 8 per the WNBA’s schedule.

While the player can’t play in the rest of Unrivaled season 2, her injury certainly impacted the franchise.
Aari McDonald Forces Unrivaled Trades
With a shorthanded roster, the Breeze BC couldn’t challenge for the title or even the playoffs. The franchise went for the trade option and added Courtney Williams to the lineup. According to the announcement, the four-team trade took place that night, with Breeze BC’s addition, and Hive BC acquiring Azura Stevens from Rose BC, while Vinyl BC received Saniya Rivers from Hive BC.
After 10 games, the Breeze side is standing fourth in the season standings and needs to win at least three games to ensure progress in the next phase. Adding an experienced guard could be helpful for the team, which lacked support for PB in the scoring department.
