Early Life & College Career
Wilson was born on August 8, 1996, in Columbia, South Carolina. She grew up in a basketball family, with her father Roscoe Wilson having played professionally overseas.
She attended South Carolina (2014–2018), where she played under coach Dawn Staley. Wilson had a legendary college career, leading the Gamecocks to their first NCAA Championship in 2017. She was named National Player of the Year in 2018 and finished as a three-time SEC Player of the Year.
Her dominance in college made her one of the most highly anticipated prospects in WNBA history.
WNBA Career
The Las Vegas Aces selected Wilson as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft. She made an immediate impact, winning Rookie of the Year after averaging 20.7 points and 8 rebounds per game.
Wilson’s career has only gone upward since. She won the WNBA MVP in 2020 and 2022, becoming one of the few multiple-time winners in league history. She also led the Aces to back-to-back WNBA Championships in 2022 and 2023, establishing them as the most dominant team of the era.
Known for her defense, Wilson has been named to multiple All-Defensive Teams and is widely regarded as one of the toughest players to score against in the paint.
