The Unrivaled Season 2 is entering its finals phase, with the playoff games following the exciting one-on-one tournament. While the teams are pushing to clear the qualification criteria, the Breeze BC received bad news on Aari McDonald’s injury.
The Fever star played in just six minutes in the season for the expansion team before suffering a leg injury again. Though Paige Bueckers’ MVP-level performances led the charge for Breeze BC, a shorthanded roster would be an issue for the challengers. While it will be a challenging task for the Season 2 newcomers, the Fever team will also face similar issues in the WNBA.

Aari McDonald’s Injury Could Force the Indiana Fever to Take a Difficult Decision
In the absence of star playmaker Caitlin Clark, the 27-year-old signed a hardship contract with the Indiana Team on June 2 and instantly fit in with her fast-paced, offensive style of play. Playing in 20 games, the guard averaged 9.8 points and 4.7 assists, her best numbers, with the Fever.
While she looked like a perfect backup in the backcourt, the former Sparks star suffered a season-ending right foot injury. Fans and Analysts saw her playing for the Fever team in the upcoming season, too, to ease the pressure on CC in the grueling season. Her latest injury update leaves the Fever front office searching for another dynamic backup guard.

With the expansion draft and free agency still pending in the offseason, the Fever team needs to keep its core and impactful players close, which includes Aari McDonald. But with injury playing a major role in the decision, it will be interesting to see whether the Fever front office sticks with its 2025 mid-season acquisition or makes a move.

While her injury and recovery period force the Indiana front office to rethink their strategy, her current Unrivalled team takes an immediate decision to strengthen its roster.
Aari McDonald’s Injury Shuffles Teams In Unrivaled League
Early in November, the former LA Sparks star was excited to play alongside Paige Bueckers in the Unrivaled. While injury shortened her journey in the 3-on-3 league, the Breeze BC also made a quick decision to fill up the roster spot with a trade, rather than going for a player from the developmental list.
Unrivaled announced that Breeze BC acquired Courtney Williams from Vinyl BC as part of a four-team trade. Hive BC acquired Azura Stevens from Rose BC, while Vinyl BC received Saniya Rivers from Hive BC.
The Breeze side is standing fourth in the season standings and has four games remaining in the regular season to push for the playoffs. Adding an experienced guard in Williams will provide them with a scoring boost, which has been lacking in recent games.
