The Las Vegas Aces are looking down the barrel at the moment. Squaring off against the Minnesota Lynx, they always knew that it would be a tough ask. After all, playing the table toppers is no child’s play. However, the manner in which the Aces got drubbed was a telling blow. The loss not only pegged them back in the league. It might have done some significant damage to the mental strength of the team as well.
In one of the biggest losses of WNBA history, the Aces surrendered 58-111 to the Lynx. And after losing by 53 points, it looks like Las Vegas does not have much time to lick their wounds. Instead, they must be getting ready for their next assignment against the Valkyries.
Las Vegas Aces Looking To Draw Positives
With 14 wins and 14 losses, the Aces are in eighth position at the moment. Unfortunately, trying to find some motivation, the Aces will be looking deep into their recent game. Thankfully, one upside of getting back into action quickly is that the players will not have time to think much. But that will not change the fact that the upcoming game against the Valkyries will be extremely tough.
The Aces looked lacklustre right from the word go. After only the first quarter, they were trailing by 18 points. And by the time it was halftime, the score read, 67-33. And it only started getting worse from there on. At the end of the third quarter, Aces lagged behind by 43 points. Making a slight comeback in the fourth, they contributed with 9 points in the last.

Reflecting on the loss, coach Becky Hammon expressed deep disappointment that the Aces allowed the Lynx to shoot 59.2% from the field. Now, looking ahead, the history does not look quite promising either. Aces have lost five games by a margin of 20 or more points this season. And one among them came against the Golden State Valkyries! Meanwhile, despite drubbing Las Vegas, the Minnesota Lynx’s celebrations were cut short due to Collier’s injury scare.
Napheesa Collier’s Injury Against The Las Vegas Aces Keeps Lynx In Doldrums
Napheesa Collier had yet another impressive game against the Aces. Playing for 26 minutes, Collier dropped 18 points. However, the celebrations were muted as Collier went down with an injury. Following a fast break led by Natisha Hiedeman, the Lynx star had her ankle rolled while stepping on Alanna Smith.
