A lot of upcoming names have made the headlines recently, ahead of the WNBA season. But when speaking about some absolute legends of the game, there can be no big name like A’ja Wilson. Becoming the only player to win the WNBA MVP honors four times, Wilson is an idol to names like Awa Fam.
After all, it is not for nothing that coach Becky Hammon compared the 29-year-old with Michael Jordan. Last year, when all the chips were down, it was the 3-time WNBA champion who dropped an incredible run that led Las Vegas to clinch the WNBA title. And now, as a new season dawns, the Aces are reverting to the same formula.

A’ja Wilson Signs Supermax Contract With The Las Vegas Aces
The Aces star has been having a superb time since last year. She is not only dropping some stellar moves inside the court, but the 29-year-old is also making waves outside of it. Now then, following the WNBA draft, as the rosters have started to take shape, Las Vegas wasted no time in re-signing its prized possession once again.
According to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Aces have signed the 2-time WNBA Finals MVP to a three-year, $5 million supermax contract. While the details about the terms and conditions of the contract were not released, Wilson has made history once again by signing the most lucrative contract in WNBA history.
“Aja Wilson, the WNBA’s first ever four-time MVP, is signing a three-year, $5 million supermax contract to return to the Las Vegas Aces, sources tell me and @Andraya_Carter. The deal, which is the largest in WNBA history to date and fully guaranteed, was negotiated by Jade-Li English of Klutch Sports Group,” Charania wrote on X.

The 7-time WNBA All-Star has been pivotal in the Aces’ success over the years. Back in 2025, she dropped an impressive 23.4 points per game while blocking 2.3 shots per game. This was a special achievement, as the South Carolina-born averaged more than 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks, and 1 steal over two back-to-back seasons.
Naturally, the Aces front office seemed elated following the signing.
Las Vegas Aces Build a Strong Core Around A’ja Wilson
Aces are dreaming about a consecutive WNBA title run this year. And in order to make that a plausible aim, the front office is leaving no stone unturned. To aid Wilson in her quest, the team has also roped in the services of Jewell Lloyd, Chelsea Gray, and Jackie Young. And if that was not all, the front office also signed Chennedy Carter on a training camp deal.
Meanwhile, expressing the importance of having the 6’4” star, Aces president Nikki Fargas said, “A’ja is truly one of one, who has led this franchise to where it is today. Not only has she catapulted into the history books and surpassed almost every record in existence, but she does so with the utmost confidence, authenticity and grace. We look forward to continuing to see her thrive in an Aces uniform.”
Thus, with things looking rosy, it now remains to be seen what’s next for the star player.
