The Las Vegas Aces have been on a roll at the moment. Back in the semis, the Aces had quite a faulty start. Facing off against the Indiana Fever, things looked pretty tight. Aliyah Boston even sent a stern warning after a nail-biting victory. Thankfully for the Aces fans, things turned out to be pretty great, and now, Las Vegas is in the finals. And one of the biggest reasons for the team’s impeccable surge is undoubtedly A’ja Wilson.
Wilson has been one of the biggest stars for the Aces. And while the team is fancying a championship run, the 29-year-old athlete broke a rare WNBA finals record recently. Looking at such a tremendous performance, the Aces fans are surely rejoicing at the moment.
A’ja Wilson Shines Bright As Las Vegas Aces Take Game 1
Both the Phoenix Mercury and the Las Vegas Aces have been phenomenal in their approach. Thus, when the two teams met in the finals, it was expected that the tensions would be on the rise. And Game 1 of the finals surely lived up to the expectations. Going toe-to-toe, the Aces thankfully clinched a narrow victory with the scorecard reading, 89-85.

And once again, the star of the show was none other than Wilson. Dropping yet another impressive show, the Aces star broke a WNBA finals record. She is now the only player with 20+ points and over 10 rebounds in a WNBA finals game. The 29-year-old has done it on five occasions now.

A’ja Wilson Supports Napheesa Collier’s Cathy Engelbert Criticism
While the WNBA is in its final run this season, there are a lot of things that are bothering the athletes. And one of the problems has been the CBA negotiations. With the athletes asking for equal pay, Napheesa Collier made her voice heard. Speaking in an interview following the Minnesota Lynx’s exit, Collier lashed out at Cathy Engelbert and stated that they had the ‘worst leadership in the world.’ And reacting to the same, Wilson too, voiced her support.

“I was honestly disgusted by the comments that Cathy made. But at the same time, I’m very appreciative that we have people like Phee in our committee of players’ association representing us, because that’s what we are going to have to continue to make the push to stand on what we believe in. I’m grateful to have those types of people be able to continue to speak up for us,“ Wilson said.
Surely, things are looking mixed for Wilson. On one hand, she has the opportunity to take her team to the title. Unfortunately, with the CBA negotiations posing a threat, the possibility of a work stoppage looks pretty much unavoidable.
