A’ja Wilson is over the moon, and we can’t blame her. The Las Vegas Aces superstar and South Carolina Gamecocks legend recently had a major career achievement. She is set to get an induction into the University of South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame on October 23, 2025, as part of the 2025 class.
While she is having a great time representing the Aces in the WNBA, the star center is getting his due respect from her college. It was back in 2014 when she first graced the court for South Carolina, and 11 years down the line, she is in the HOF.
A’ja Wilson Shared Heartfelt Reaction To Hall Of Fame Induction
After the official announcement, Wilson will be the only basketball player in this year’s class. She will join an elite group of stars from the college. It includes Natasha Hastings (track), Brandon Hulko (diving), Paul Jubb (tennis), Akram Mahmoud (swimming), and Mollie Patton (soccer). The induction will be hosted by the Association of Lettermen. It will be celebrated during South Carolina’s football game against Alabama on October 25.
However, Wilson shared a heartfelt note on her Instagram account out of pure joy. She wrote- “Top Tier blessings.”
The hometown hero from Hopkins, this honor comes as yet another accolade that started on the court at Colonial Life Arena. Wilson had a time worth remembering at South Carolina from 2014 to 2018. She led the Gamecocks to their first-ever national championship in 2017. And went on to earn NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors.
In 2018, she swept every major National Player of the Year award. Be it AP, Naismith, Wooden, Wade, USBWA, and Lisa Leslie, making her the unanimous best in women’s college basketball. A three-time SEC Player of the Year, Wilson holds USC records for points, blocks, and blocks per game. That stands at 2,389, 363, and 2.6, respectively, while also ranking fourth in rebounds (1,195).

As the No. 1 recruit in 2014, Wilson chose to stay home, boosting South Carolina’s program under coach Dawn Staley. Her jersey was retired on February 2, 2025, and a statue of her has stood outside Colonial Life Arena since 2021.
A’ja Wilson Still Carrying Her College Stardom
While her fans are celebrating the latest achievement for their beloved star, her life has come full circle. She grew up just 20 minutes from campus and went on to become a local icon. During her time at the Gamesocks, she used to draw huge crowds to Heathwood Hall and later pack Colonial Life Arena.

Additionally, the attendance jumped from 6,371 to 13,239 per game during her career. Her induction came after her transformative role in taking the South Carolina women’s basketball team to a whole new level.
Now a three-time WNBA MVP, two-time champion, and 2024 scoring leader, Wilson’s still got that Gamecock spirit. Her recent double-double in a 101-77 win over the Valkyries showed she’s still dominant. Despite the fact that the Aces fight for a playoff spot.
As Wilson prepares for the Indiana Fever on August 5, this Hall of Fame nod will add an extra responsibility to go out and shine.
