The WNBA is getting interesting with each passing day. With all the teams looking to push for the playoffs, the contest on the hardwood has become even tougher. However, there are some athletes who have managed to outshine the others. And A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Mitchell are two such names that have taken the league by storm. For example, Wilson achieved a rare WNBA feat as the Aces beat Connecticut.
Similarly, Kelsey Mitchell has been phenomenal for the Indiana Fever. As Fever is currently without the services of Caitlin Clark, Mitchell has been giving the team hope of a probable playoff push. Thus, quite unexpectedly, Wilson and Mitchell are now soaring in MVP rankings.
A’ja Wilson And Kelsey Mitchell Ups The Ante For WNBA MVP
The Las Vegas Aces were one of the top contenders for the WNBA title. Unfortunately, the team stumbled to a 14-14 record initially. Thankfully enough, it was then that Wilson decided to come to the party. Having suffered their last defeat back on August 3, the Aces are on the run at the moment.

And one of the biggest reasons for the same is undoubtedly Wilson. The Aces’ star has been averaging a stellar 26.9 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in the last eight games. What’s more, Wilson has led her team in terms of scoring in the last six of the eight games they won. As a result, Wilson is currently second-ranked on the MVP list. Now then, with the Aces’ icon rampaging, Fever’s Mitchell, too, is not far behind.

Fever has been plagued with injuries this season. Apart from Clark, the likes of Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald, and Sydney Colson too, have been out. Thankfully for Indiana, Mitchell is having the best season of her career. So far, she has been averaging a career-high 20.4 points, with 3.4 assists. Such a showing has propelled the Fever star to number 4 in the WNBA MVP ranking.

Kelsey Mitchell Heavily Pushed By Her Fever Teammates For An MVP Run
The Fever star has been doing wonders this season. Owing to her incredible display, Mitchell overtook DeWanna Bonner in WNBA career three-pointers recently. And all of this has made her Fever teammates endorse the 29-year-old for the WNBA MVP. In a recent game, the Fever players walked out into the arena wearing Kelsey Mitchell MVP t-shirts. And looking at all the love and support received, the 29-year-old had a heartfelt message for her team.

“It was fun. It was funny. I was very humbled. I was grateful for my group… love the people I play with. And, to know that they would go out of their way to make something like that happen for me, it means a lot. … They make me feel like I’m important to them and vice versa. That value means everything to me,” said Mitchell.
Well, at the moment, it might look like Wilson is ahead in the race. However, if the Fever gets into the playoffs, they are likely to get the services of Caitlin Clark. And with both coming together, it might as well result in Mitchell getting catapulted ahead of Wilson.
