The Las Vegas Aces’ championship run was one of the most iconic, with the team outperforming its opponents in the Finals. While the title run was an iconic one, the press conference was equally entertaining. Re-watching it on Kylie Kelce’s podcast, the forward spills some inside story behind her goggle and tambourine.
Initially, on the podcast, Kylie Kelce subtly recruits A’ja Wilson for Philadelphia’s WNBA team, which is set to debut in 2030. While the Aces’ star handled that situation well, she couldn’t control her laughter at her own press conference.
A’ja Wilson Loses It At Her Own Press Conference Antics
During the press conference, the 29-year-old forward wore skiing goggles and had a tambourine in her hand. She was happy but didn’t want to answer any press questions and acted funny on most of the questions. Re-watching the tape now, the finals MVP couldn’t control her laughter and debrief the entire scenario.

“First press conference (2022 championship) cut me some slack never been there before I was lit, second (2023 championship) back to back never did it before, give me some slack this one I said all right let me tighten up but my eyes were not saying that so Chelsea was like put your goggles on when no one’s talking to you and I said you’re right so in my mind I was like yeah I’m like when I put these goggles on they do not see me like the camera was supposed to pan like to someone else, but it didn’t. It stayed on me, and I’m like, that’s not what I asked for,” Wilson explained in a podcast.
She mentioned that the musical instrument was there as her representative in the conference and to speak for her, but it all went wrong. Looking back at the tape, the champion burst out laughing.

Ironically, it was neither Wilson’s first championship nor her first Finals MVP Award. She won both those accolades in 2023, and yet in the 2025 season, the championship felt different for the former South Carolina star. On Jennifer Hudson’s talk show, she explained the reason.
A’ja Wilson Feels 2025 Championship Is The Most Rewarding One
The Las Vegas Aces were one of the struggling teams early in the season, losing more games than they won. But the second half of the season was a completely different story. Not only did they stay undefeated in the September regular season games, but they went on to win the title with a clean sweep against the Mercury.
On Jennifer Hudson’s show, she admitted that the 2025 championship was the most rewarding one and said, “No one expected us to do it, and like what better way, like ‘boo boo’ than to win it.”

The championship run was not an easy one, either, as they overcame challenges from the Seattle Storm and Indiana Fever to reach the finals. HC Becky Hammon praises Caitlin Clark-Less Indiana Fever after the Las Vegas Aces’ Toughest Semifinal Series. So, a few moments of fun in the press conference may be a result of Wilson’s ‘joy’ of shutting down the critics.
