The Las Vegas Aces build on their core players’ performances to clinch the third WNBA championship in four seasons. For some, it might feel like a ‘regular championship win,’ especially with the clean sweep achieved in the finals. But for Finals MVP A’ja Wilson, the 2025 WNBA championship ring feels most rewarding.
She talked a lot about the team’s struggles and bounce back from the poor start, but played a critical role in closing out the season strongly. Talking about ‘closing out’, the 29-year-old’s game-winner in game 3 was a special one, and Wilson keeps her memory at the top of her favorites.

A’ja Wilson Pin Points Game 3 Winner As Her Career Defining Moment
The 29-year-old forward was on the ‘First We Feast’ show, answering the questions. After the early greetings, the obvious topics of discussion were her recent championship and the accolades that came with it. The host tried to put the superstar in a ‘difficult’ situation as she asked, “Where did that buzzer beater that you hit in game three, where does that fall on your list of most satisfying buckets of your career?”
But Wilson didn’t take much time to answer and said, “Oh, it’s number one. All the greats have that super cool picture and it’s like, oh, time just kind of froze and you know it was a bucket. I didn’t have that until that moment and I think that kind of like solidified my career at that moment of like being the MVP. Um so yeah, I love that. That’s like number one.”
Wilson scored the game-winner with 2.2 seconds left, which ended the Mercury’s attempt to get back into the series and challenge the Aces for the championship. Individually, as the forward mentioned, it was a career-defining moment, which put her in the ‘clutch players’ list, and though she was a game winner throughout her career.

Although the Aces had a clean sweep in the series, the opening game wins were much more significant in setting the tone for the team, and Wilson shone in both games with heavy production on the floor.
