The WNBA is approaching its business end. And thus, it is also time for the awards to be announced for the year. Looking back at the regular season, there have been a number of notable moments from the league. A number of players have played an impressive hand. But two of the most important names that have caught the attention of hoops enthusiasts are undoubtedly Paige Bueckers and A’ja Wilson. Putting up a phenomenal performance, Wilson has recently hinted at earning a record 4th WNBA MVP with the Aces.
On the contrary, Bueckers, too, has emerged as one of the biggest potential future stars. Thus, when these two names dominated the Associated Press awards this season, it came as a no-brainer. However, the list also features a number of notable names who have been given their due share of honors.
Associated Press Awards Honors A’ja Wilson, Paige Bueckers, And Others
The Associated Press recently released its own list of awards for this year. And the first two names on the list came as no surprise. Making full use of Napheesa Collier’s injury absence, Wilson has made a strong case for herself to win the WNBA MVP. But while we will have to wait to see if the Aces star really can clinch her fourth MVP award, the AP has already handed out the MVP to Wilson.

Next up, for the Rookie of the Year, it was never a question. Bueckers, with her scintillating form, clinched the award, putting herself ahead of the others. Adding further to her credibility, Bueckers is all set to shine in Unrivaled as two new teams get added. However, the AP awards also honored a host of other WNBA stars. Here’s the full list as posted on X, formerly known as Twitter by Mitchell Hansen.

Meanwhile, coming back to Wilson, she is getting some strong push for her MVP award. While the likes of Sue Bird picked Collier, Aces’ head coach, Becky Hammon detailed why the award must go to Wilson.
Becky Hammon Backed A’ja Wilson For Season MVP
Wilson has been the backbone of the Las Vegas Aces this year. Dropping averages of 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.1 assists, the 29-year-old has surely shone bright for the Aces. Back in late August, the Aces faced off against the Mystics. And while their star prospect made headlines again, coach Hammon was pretty sure that it should be Wilson who must be adjudged as the MVP.

“Anytime a media person has to ask a question, ‘who’s as good as A’ja Wilson,’ that’s where you start with the conversation, that’s your answer. That’s your answer. She’s top three in every major statistical category, but most importantly, efficiency. She’s number one in efficiency. And to me, people need to do that kind of homework,” said Wilson.
Thus, the season is looking extremely bright for the 29-year-old. Now, with the postseason growing intense, rivals will challenge Wilson even further.
