The Las Vegas Aces won the 2025 WNBA championship with A’ja Wilson recording her fourth regular-season MVP and second Finals MVP title in three title runs. While the players’ influence on the court was evident, her leadership behind the scenes was equally important and played a vital role in the title.
Wilson’s incredible feat earned her comparisons with Michael Jordan, as the player was a key figure in building the Aces’ dynasty, who now has three titles in four seasons. But the recent one was very special as the former South Carolina star put special efforts behind the title run.

A’ja Wilson’s Infamous DM Led Aces To Championship
After a slow start to the season, no one expected the Aces to bounce back and make it to the WNBA finals. A humiliating loss against the Lynx ignited the fire within the 29-year-old forward, who then sent an infamous DM to every member of the team, asking to quit if they don’t wanna win.
Recently, she spoke about the message challenging her peers. Sahe said, “The biggest thing is just effort. Everyone talks about the infamous text message, but that text message has changed the trajectory of our season. Not because I sent it, it was because everybody was on the same page of what needs to be done in order for us to win.”

Winning, as she explained, was not limited to banners or trophies but to every possession in the game. This highlights the star’s focus and attention to detail that resulted in the most famous championship run in WNBA history.

While the Aces’ superstar calls her 2025 championship the most satisfying one, she is hungry for more and has already made bold predictions about the Aces’ dominance.
A’ja Wilson Aims For More Glory
There are very few teams in the WNBA that have retained the title. Comets were the first ones to do so, and then the Aces made history with three titles in four seasons. Though this is an incredible achievement, Wilson still wants more.
In her recent interview, when the presenter brought up the topic, Wilson said, “I think I can do three more. That right there is everything I want (compared to MJ). Give me rings. Let me take the picture and really show off who I am. I don’t want to have to be somebody that’s like, ‘Yep, I’m A’ja Wilson, everybody.’ I could also hold this aura and impact where everyone’s like, ‘Oh no, that’s A’ja Wilson.’ And I don’t have to say a word.”

Such drive makes her the most feared athlete in the league, and no wonder she earned the AP Female Athlete of the Year 2025 with her consistency and leadership.
