The WNBA is slowly closing the gap with the NBA in all aspects. The players are requesting a CBA based on the NBA’s format, with increased popularity, revenue, and viewership. A recent report supports their claim, as A’ja Wilson and Sabrina Ionescu’s signature shoes are among Nike’s top sellers, competing with those of LeBron James.
What’s even more interesting is that Nike has yet to launch Caitlin Clark’s signature shoe, who, by far, is the key figure behind the rise of the league. Recently, Nike’s CEO confirmed that Clark’s signature shoe is in development amid her growing influence in women’s sports. Currently, the two veteran stars hold spots in the top 5 rankings.
A’ja Wilson And Sabrina Ionescu In Top 5 On Nike’s Sales Charts In Basketball
The fan following may have many parameters, with attendance, viewership, social media engagement, and merchandise sales combining to put the crown on an athlete. In basketball, LeBron James ruled the popularity charts for nearly two decades. However, a few elite NBA players are also challenging his crown, and WNBA players are now in conversations as well.

According to StockX’s Top Five Best-Selling Nike Basketball Models in 2025, A’ja Wilson and Sabrina Ionescu both landed in the top five. Wilson’s A’Ones takes the No. 2 spot, while Ionescu’s signature shoe variants are at number four.

Fans now often see multiple athletes, even from different sports, wearing and promoting the WNBA players’ shoes. Caitlin Clark’s Nike Kobe V Protro was a striking presence in Shedeur Sanders’ latest workout vlog.

A’ja Wilson Cried After Her Nike Signature Shoes Sold Out
The three-time WNBA champion is one of the most followed athletes from the league. When Nike launched her signature shoe, the former South Carolina star was nervous and didn’t watch the initial results. And just after four to five minutes, she found out that her shoe line received a bumper response.
“When I saw it, I really started crying, only because I couldn’t believe it. I was so nervous, and when it was sold out, I was just balling, crying because I could not believe that finally, this shoe is shared with the world,” Wilson explained her emotions in a Kylie Kelce’s recent podcast episode.
She mentioned that she didn’t want to be up at the time of release and had purposefully tried to sleep, but right after release, she was up and received the ‘sold out’ news.
