The Golden State Valkyries looked to avenge their recent loss against the Las Vegas Aces when they hosted the former champions on August 6. HC Natalie Nakase called for consistency and effort before the game, and the team responded with full energy. But it was another A’ja Wilson dominance that crashed the Valks’ dream.
The star put up a monstrous performance, scoring 27 points and seven rebounds to win the game 78-72 at the Chase Center. In the process, she also set the WNBA records for blocks.
A’ja Wilson Registers Blocks Record During Aces Vs. Valkyries Game
The former South Carolina star is known for her control in the paint region. Rebounds, blocks, and scoring around the rim have always been part of her most efficient and dependable aspects of the game. The 6-foot-4 Aces’ forward not only dominated the Valks’ counterparts but also exerted authority on the court.
In the first quarter, with just over three minutes remaining, A’ja Wilson swept away Janelie Salaun’s layup attempt. It was her second block in the game and 500th in her career. With that, the star became only the 10th player to block 500 shots in the ‘W’.

A’ja Wilson With Another MVP Season
The 2024 League MVP is once again carrying the team on her back. Even though the side is struggling with consistency, the 28-year-old forward is putting up numbers on a nightly basis. For the Aces, the superstar leads all except the assists average in the 2025 season.

In the league, she is once again among the top performers. She not only leads the league in blocks this season, but she also has the second-best rebound average (behind Angele Reese) and the fifth-best steals record in 2025.
The defensive stalwart is also delivering on the offensive end. She averages 21.5 points per game, just a basket behind leader Napheesa Collier. With her consistency and high-octane performances, the Las Vegas side clings on to seventh place and will look to challenge other competitors for the title.
