A’ja Wilson had one of the best nights on the basketball court. And she wasn’t even playing! Surely, winning the WNBA title with the Las Vegas Aces was a surreal experience. But as the 2026 season hangs in the balance, she is experiencing some more feel-good moments. This time with her partner Bam Adebayo.
Playing against the Washington Wizards, Adebayo had a stellar night. Overtaking Kobe Bryant’s 81-point game, the Miami Heat star chimed in with 83-points. Surprisingly, as the Heat won 150-129, Wilson could be seen slipping back into the tunnel.

Why Did A’ja Wilson Not Watch Her Boyfriend’s Historic Night?
The Aces star has always been a strong supporter of her NBA partner. Showing her affection publicly, Wilson has cited Adebayo as ‘perfect.’ Quite expectedly, the WNBA star was spotted cheering for the Heat star in the recent game. But at one point, cameras caught her sliding back into the tunnel as Adebayo made history.
Initially, such a response left everyone baffled. Later on, the 2025 WNBA champion explained how her personal superstition drove her to exit from courtside. Wilson said, “Yeah, I was hiding a little bit. I remember, I sat down, and he missed a free throw, and I was like, ‘All right, let me go back to the back.’ But at the same time, I knew I wanted to just show my support.”
BAM ADEBAYO: "To have 83 the first game she's here is very special… the behind-the-scenes, the workouts, the conversations, they're very motivating, and obviously you see what she does… you get inspired by that. I'm thankful to have her in my life."

She mentioned the early-morning workouts and the countless hours the Heat star put in to be the best version of himself. Thus, when he was doing so well, the 2025 WNBA Finals MVP did not want to mess things up.

What Did Bam Adebayo Say About A’ja Wilson’s Support?

The 3-time WNBA champion has always been grateful for having Adebayo in her life. And now, it was time for the 28-year-old to return the favor. As the 29-year-old WNBA star cheered from the stands, Adebayo revealed that she wanted to witness his 10,000th NBA point in person.
“She’s been gone a week. She was complaining I got my 10,000th point and she wanted me to wait. To have 83 the first game she’s here is special. You see what she does.
