It’s not common to see a Brittney Griner record getting crushed, but things sometimes happen. While some might wonder how many MVP awards Wilson has won in her WNBA career, she has won four of them.
Recently, the Las Vegas Aces veteran surpassed one of Griner’s WNBA playoff block records. However, it came during the Aces’ Game 3 against the Indiana Fever.
A’ja Wilson Passed Brittney Griner In WNBA Playoff Blocks List
The Las Vegas Aces star’s three blocks on Friday pushed her past Griner for third all-time. Wilson’s ascent comes amid a grueling semifinal series tied 1-1, where the Aces evened things up with an 84-72 win in Indianapolis.

Griner, now 34 and entering free agency after a reserve role with Atlanta, faces questions about her future. However, the WNBA took time and shared the announcement on a social media post.
“A’ja Wilson has passed Brittney Griner for 3rd all-time on Playoffs Blocks List,” the caption read.

Her three swats moved her ahead of Griner, who’s now fourth, just 12 blocks shy of Candace Parker’s second-place mark. At 29, Wilson’s already a defensive force, leading the league with 2.3 blocks per game this season and earning her third Defensive Player of the Year nod.
Becky Hammon Sent Thoughts On A’ja Wilson’s Off Night
While the last game added another record to Wilson’s already decorated career, there was one praise from coach Becky Hammons. The coach praised the star player after a much-needed Game 3 victory over the Fever.
“I think she’s fine. I thought she got hit a lot tonight to shoot one free throw…they told me not to say anything, but you know, I can’t,” Hammon said of Wilson.
However, the comments came in the wake of A’ja getting just one free throw amid an already controversial WNBA officiating. Despite the outburst, Wilson shone with 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
