The Las Vegas Aces completed its impressive postseason run with a clean sweep victory in the WNBA Finals against the Phoenix Mercury. A’ja Wilson’s record-breaking Finals MVP led her side to the third title in four seasons. The player was emotional as she went back to her family after the win.
The star hugged her father and then her NBA boyfriend Bam Adebayo on the floor. The 29-year-old couldn’t control her emotions as tears of joy began to well up in her eyes.

The Aces rallied behind a strong second-half performance to take the second seed in the WNBA standings. In the postseason, they were also clinical, taking on top sides like Phoenix Mercury, Indiana Fever and Seattle Storm. The former South Carolina star was at the heart of this turnaround and finally captured the championship after missing out in 2024.

Wilson got emotional after the win and, after celebrating with her teammates, found her family, who stood by her in the tough times. She also hugged Bam Adebayo. Wilson openly acknowledged that the Adebayo helped her work on her footwork. As per a post by ESPN, Wilson said,” Thank you for believing in me, baby,” as she hugged Adebayo.

The NBA star comforted her and replied, “You got it done…. You are okay” The power couple confirmed their relationship during the 2024 Olympics and regularly attended each other’s games, showing support. Also, Bam Adebayo handed A’ja Wilson her record fourth WNBA MVP Award at the Vegas training center.

A’ja Wilson Creates History With Finals MVP Award
The seven-time All-Star scored 31 points in the finals and collected nine rebounds with three blocks and two steals in Game 4. With this monstrous game, the star averaged 26.5 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 2.5 blocks in the postseason. While she was the obvious choice for the Finals MVP Award, she set a record with the title.
As per Bleacher Report, Wilson became the first WNBA or NBA player to win the scoring title, regular-season MVP, Defensive Player of the Year and Finals MVP in the same season.
