Although the league is only 28 years old, many superstar players have mesmerizing fans with their plays. Diana Taurasi is one of them, considered the GOAT. The former Phoenix Mercury star is not only the All-Time leading scorer in the WNBA. She also has many scoring records under her belt.
However, some of her records are in danger, with players like A’ja Wilson, Caitlin Clark, Napheesa Collier, and Paige Bueckers dominating the court. The Aces’ forward broke one of Taurasi’s records in a recent match against the Indiana Fever.
A’ja Wilson Matches Diana Taurasi’s Feat
Playing their 24th game of the season, the Las Vegas franchise needed a win to have an upper hand in the season series against Caitlin Clark and co. Starting slowly, the Aces picked up in the second quarter and finished the half with a six-point lead. But the hosts bounced back with a strong defensive show and took away the game in the final quarter.
Even in the loss, the 2023 finals MVP scored a team-high 20 points, pushing for the win. This was her 150th 20+ point game in her eighth season, matching the feat achieved by Daina Taurasi. The record is impressive considering the number of games played in the WNBA season (ranging from 32 to 40).
The star had already broken a record, being the fastest player to score 5000 points in the WNBA. She now stands at 25th place in the all-time list with 5228 points in 247 games. The superstar forward also stands 24th in rebounds and 10th in blocks on the All-Time list in the league after just eight seasons.
In the game against the Fever, though, her fellow draftmate Kelsey Mitchell scored 21 to win the game for the Indiana team. The Aces currently hold seventh place in the league with a 12-12 record.
