The Los Angeles Sparks rode high on a five-game winning streak, their longest stretch in the 2025 season. The side got more encouragement with the return of their star forward, Cameron Brink. After 13 months, the 2024 rookie returned to the action as she was seen in all-black athletic clothes and purple sneakers during the warmups.
Called into action, the star made an immediate impact on the floor with a rebound and assisted Rickea Jackson. Fans loved to see the former Stanford player in action again, but A’ja Wilson’s monstrous night overshadowed the dream season debut for the Sparks’ forward.
A’ja Wilson Spoils Cameron Brink’s Return
There was hype around the 23-year-old’s possible return for over a month. The results and reports were positive, and the doctors cleared the player to play. She drilled a three-pointer to open her account in the 2025 season as home fans cheered their rookie.
Fans were expecting an instant upgrade on the defensive end, but A’ja Wilson dominated the game with her big scoring night. Back from a quiet night against the Dallas Wings, the reigning MVP controlled the offensive end of the floor and scored 34 points with 10 rebounds. Shooting nearly 70% from the field, the 28-year-old forward put her team in the commanding position right from the start.
She also had three blocks and three steals, taking care of the defense for the side. Jackie Young supported her with a triple-double performance, scoring 18 points with 11 rebounds and 11 assists. The struggling side, looking for answers, won back-to-back games and climbed up to seventh position in the standings.
On her return, Brink scored five points with three rebounds and one assist in 14 minutes of action. Kelsey Plum led the side with 22 points while Rae Barell added 17. The hosts fell to a 74-89 defeat against the former champions and stay in the 10th position with an 11-15 record.
