The 2025 WNBA season is nearing its conclusion, and multiple players are setting new records with their impeccable gameplay. In the Los Angeles Sparks vs Phoenix Mercury game, Kelsey Plum matched Caitlin Clark’s record while Cameron Brink matched Rebecca Lobo’s impressive stats. But the most incredible record belonged to Alyssa Thomas.
While the LA duo levelled with other players’ records, the Mercury forward broke her own record, securing triple-double stats in the game.
Alyssa Thomas Extends Triple-Double In A Season Record
AT and triple double go hand-in-hand now. The forward is putting up a show in nearly every game and notching up double-double stats with ease. While she cleared the 100 double-double milestone earlier this season, she now has another record in the season.

With a 12-point, 16-rebound, and 15-assist output in the game, the 33-year-old star recorded her seventh triple-double of the season. This is the most in one season by any WNBA player. Thomas held the previous record with six triple-doubles.
AT leads the list with 18 triple-double games in her career. Sabrina Ionescu comes second with four triple-double games. There are just six other players who recorded a triple-double in WNBA history. The forward also became the first player in WNBA history to score at least 10 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists in a game.

Behind her all-around performance, the Mercury won the game against the Sparks with a 92-84 scoreline and virtually secured a place in the postseason.
Alyssa Thomas Reflects On Her Triple-Double Performance
Cool and composed – traits of the experienced forward were visible in the press conference also. Happy with a win she reacted to her triple-double performance, sharing credit with her teammates (like she is sharing the ball.)
“When we share the ball and have multiple players in double digits, when we’re playing team basketball, taking easy, open shots, we’re really hard to guard. We can’t pick and choose when we want to play like that,” the Mercury star said to the media.
Ironically, the star won only the 2023 Peak Performer accolade in her career despite her consistency and stat-filled performances in the games. Thomas led rebounding stats in 2023 and also had the highest steals average in the 2020 season. In 2025, she is leading the league in assists, despite playing at the forward position.
This season, though, her numbers with the Mercury are high enough, along with her team’s standing, that many analysts consider her one of the dark horses for the MVP award.
