The WNBA finals are on, and the Las Vegas Aces are looking pretty much on track. After surviving a closely fought semifinal game against the Indiana Fever, the likes of A’ja Wilson and co. are looking sublime. With two games down in the finals, the Aces are leading 2-0. And quite expectedly, Becky Hammon would want to close things with a Game 3 victory. But as per Alyssa Thomas, the Aces might not have an easy way to the championship.
Thomas had been quite a presence for the Mercury this season. In fact, Hammon compared Thomas’ physicality to that of the footballers. And while her physical play is in the news, Thomas has recently issued a stern warning to the Aces.
Alyssa Thomas Desperately Wants A WNBA Ring
The Phoenix Mercury was not the team that everyone expected to see in the WNBA finals. Yet, with their impeccable performance, Mercury eliminated the strongest teams of the league, the Minnesota Lynx. And one person responsible for the dramatic turnaround of Phoenix has undoubtedly been Thomas. And as she has led the team to the finals, the WNBA star now wants to make her career a full circle by winning a WNBA title.

“To win a championship, I feel like none of the records are — any of it is completed without a championship, I feel like winning a championship just completes the resume on a great career and this is the whole reason that I’m playing is to win a championship… I can’t stop until I get one,” said Thomas.

Surely, such words coming from Thomas will keep the Aces a bit worried. After all, the 33-year-old veteran has a long list of accolades in her career. Thomas had been on the All-Defensive team six times. She has three All-WNBA teams and a couple of WNBA All-Star nods to her name. Meanwhile, coming back to the finals, coach Nate Tibbetts is putting his faith in Thomas.

Nate Tibbetts Puts His Confidence In Alyssa Thomas
The 33-year-old suffered an injury scare in Game 1 of the finals. Thankfully, an MRI cleared Thomas to play in Game 2 after a clean report. However, one thing that might bother head coach Tibbetts is the surging fouls from Thomas. The Mercury star is coming off one of the most physical playoff stretches in her career. Yet, the head coach does not want Thomas to change her style. Instead, he is putting all his confidence in the veteran WNBA star.

“There is no holding back AT. She is who she is. That’s why we love her, and she’s the player that she is. The thing that I get disappointed in hearing is our officials say she’s hard to officiate because she plays so physical. AT is going to be AT when we want her to be,” Tibbetts said.
Surely, Thomas is looking quite charged up. But with the likes of Wilson and co., not bowing down easily, Game 3 of the finals will surely be a banger.
