The 2025–26 WNBL season is off to a blazing start, and Amy Atwell made sure everyone took notice. While the WNBA CBA’s impact on the WNBL might be a thing, she’s worth the hype.
Against the Southside Melbourne Flyers, Atwell dropped a season-high 32 points, leading the Perth Lynx to a convincing 98–81 victory.
From the opening minutes, Atwell seemed dialed in. By halftime, she already had 21 points, and she never slowed down.

While Atwell carried the scoring load, veteran support helped maintain balance. And just like that, the Lynx built a solid lead, kept the momentum through the quarters, and never let the Flyers get comfortable.
Interestingly, the lock-in performance resulted in a 98-81 blowout that felt like a statement for the Lynx.
Amy Atwell Had A Distinct Stint With Phoenix Mercury
Other than her latest performance, Atwell isn’t just making waves in Australia. On the WNBA side, she signed with the Phoenix Mercury ahead of the 2024 season.
During her time there, she saw limited opportunities: she appeared in six games, averaged about 2.5 points per game, and had roles in rebounding and assists.
However, those were modest numbers, but valuable experience at the highest level. Her time with the Mercury was short-lived as they waived her in February 2025 during training-camp cuts.
