The talent-rich WNBA will have 16 of its representatives out of 18 at the Team USA training camp, preparing for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers. 10 of which are young stars who are entering the senior training camp for the first time. Caitlin Clark is one of them, who has already made her plans for the Team clear.
The news charged everyone up, as they got to see the Fever star back on the court after missing the majority of the season and missing from the action even before the All-Star break. However, one question remains unanswered: Will Caitlin Clark play on the team, and if so, what will be her role?

Analyst Predicts Caitlin Clark To Start For Team USA
Looking at the list of players invited to the training camp, the Fever guard is one of eight guards called in for the action. It was therefore obvious that fans would support their players in playing a key role, as starters, and having more minutes on the floor. UConn coach Geno Auriemma put Paige Bueckers ahead of CC as the starter point guard.
While Clark fans issue brutal Paige Bueckers take following Geno Auriemma’s comment, analysis from Robin Lundberg might calm them down. Lundberg said, “Caitlin Clark has been invited to the camp. There’s no more controversy. She will be on the team. She will be the starting point guard, barring anything unusual.”
The race for the point guard position is fierce, with many capable stars and even WNBA champions ready to take the position. But Clark, even in her second year, is famous for her playmaking and even explosive scoring. She would give the team a head start in the game, which would allow them to build a massive lead.

While Lundberg’s comment might encourage the CC fan base, his other analysis would concern the Team USA fan base as a whole.
Questions Over Kara Lawson’s Coaching?
Kara Lawson is not a new name for basketball followers. She worked in the NBA with Marcus Smart and even coached national teams at various events, including the 2022 FIBA World Cup, the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup. She also coached the U.S. 3×3 women’s national team to gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Although all those teams won silverware, she was an assistant coach on the staff, and her head coaching career at the Duke Blue Devils was not very impressive for a national team coach.
However, Lundberg is not concerned about the team’s performance, as he added that Lawson won’t be coaching alone. “Natalie Nakase, Nate Tibbetts, and Stephanie White are serving as court coaches for the camp. That shows the level of investment and support around her,” he said.
Team USA had been the most successful side in the basketball events, and this new core will also look to uphold the flag.
