Sophie Cunningham has always been known as someone who is not afraid to speak her mind. For example, Cunningham did not hesitate to issue a grim outlook for the upcoming 2026 WNBA season.
Now then, in a recent controversy, Michael Porter Jr. and Lonzo Ball made some comments about the WNBA. And while many did not like it, Cunningham, surprisingly, supported the same.
Porter Jr. stated that he dominated a field of WNBA stars while he was in eighth grade. And as Cunningham agreed to the claims, analyst Robin Lundberg had words of praise for the Fever star.

Analyst Impressed After Sophie Cunningham Agrees To Michael Porter Jr.
Cunningham sent quite a shockwave after she agreed that Porter Jr. could dominate WNBA players in the eighth grade. While a lot of fans and critics lashed out at the 29-year-old, analyst Lundberg seemed mightily impressed with her honesty.
Analyzing Cunningham’s reply, Lundberg, in a recent statement, said, “she’s not afraid to speak her mind. She did it very calmly, that’s what I liked about her. She had some fun with, she didn’t take it too seriously, she addressed it calmly. We should probably suggest a moratorium on Michael Porter Jr. WNBA vs. Boy tie. i feel like he’s reached his quota.”

With the WNBA failing to cater to the players’ demands for a better revenue-sharing contract, the CBA negotiations are hitting a dead rubber. And it is exactly at this time that the likes of Project B are trying to lure the players with multi-million dollar contracts.

Now, when asked about whether she wants to transition to the Saudi-backed league, Cunningham was straightforward as usual. She said, “I don’t know too much about it. You know, you see stuff on social media, but I also know how social media goes. So you got to take it with a grain of salt. But, you know, if people are going to be paying you multi-million dollar deals, why would you not?”
