The Connecticut Sun vs. the Chicago Sky was a unique game as both sides were already eliminated from playoff contention, yet the battle was to avoid the bottom-place finish. Former teammates Angel Reese and Aneesah Morrow faced each other for the first time in the 2025 season, following Reese’s absence in the previous two encounters.
Reese once again took the center stage, setting another double-double record with 11 points and 11 rebounds in the game, the 2025 rookie also made history recording a franchise record that stood for over a decade.
Aneesah Morrow Sets Franchise Rebounds Record
Getting a rare start for the Connecticut Sun, the 22-year-old forward was looking to make an immediate impact on the game. The team had a strong start at the Wintrust Arena and had a 15-point lead in the first quarter only. The 2025 rookie continued contributing with her positioning and setting up screens for the guards.

She finished the game with five rebounds, seven points, a block, and an assist. Though her numbers might not be flashy, the five rebounds take her tally to 200 rebounds in her rookie season, setting a franchise record that stood for over a decade.
Despite only 15 starts in 33 games played, Aneesah Morrow leads the team with a 6.1 rebounds average in the 2025 season. Experienced Tina Charles, who also set a 200-double-double record, comes second with six rebounds per game.

Playing against the ‘twin-towers’ of Sky – Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, and still finishing with five rebounds, is an incredible achievement for the rookie. Cardoso highlighted that she takes inspiration from Reese for the rebounds, and sharing the court with Chi-Town Barbie during her college years helped the 2025’s seventh overall pick collect some missed attempts.
Aneesah Morrow And Connecticut Sun Shake Up League Standings With A Win
From the start of the 2025 season, the Sun franchise struggled to get out of 13th position in a 13-team league. But after a win over the Chicago Sky, the side is now 11th in the league with a better head-to-head record against the Windy City franchise.
Tina Charles and Bria Hartley scored 23 points each, while Marina Mabrey dished out eight assists to help the team record a 94-84 win. Kia Nurse (19 points) and Kamilla Cardoso (18 points) provided some fight for the home team, but the side lost its eighth game in the last 10 and stands at 12th place in the league standings.
