Angel Reese recently dropped a truth bomb on the Chicago Sky. In a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune, the 23-year-old star stated that the front office needs to rope in some quality athletes for the next season. Otherwise, Sky’s dream of repeating their 2021 title run will not come to fruition. Furthermore, throwing her teammates under the bus, the Chi-town Barbie stated that she might as well leave the franchise if things are not working out properly.
Sure enough, the moment this interview went live, a swarm of criticism engulfed Reese. Fans and pundits alike began to lash out at the 2024 rookie. However, with the entire situation blowing up, Reese recently came up with an apology for her teammates.
Angel Reese Claims That Her Words Were ‘Miscontrued’
A lot of issues have already plagued the team. Apart from injuries, Reese and Co. also had a dismal win-loss record this season. Surely, they did not want any additional off-the-court controversies. Sadly, with Reese speaking about leaving the team, things really went off the chart as criticism filled in quite swiftly. However, the woman of the moment, Reese herself, finally broke her silence and gave her take on the matter.

“I didn’t intentionally mean to put down my teammates… I already apologized to them. What I say can be taken any type of way, and I want to grow from this. I want to apologize to my teammates for the article and how it was misconstrued,” said Reese.

WNBA Legend Cynthia Cooper Praises Angel Reese
Reese has been a live wire in the field for the Sky this season. And looking at how well the Sky star has improved this season, WNBA legend Cynthia Cooper could not help but share some interesting observations. Appearing on a recent episode of the ‘We Need To Talk Now’ podcast, Cooper said many have directed hatred and negativity toward Reese. But she has stayed unperturbed amidst the storm and has emerged as one of the best of the WNBA.

She even claimed that watching Reese play made Cooper remember her own playing days. “She reminds me of me when I was starting out and I didn’t care. Say what you want to say. I’m bringing my A-game tonight. You’re gonna have to stop me from getting all these rebounds. Stop talking about how I get the rebounds. Stop me if you can. And I love that attitude of hers and how she’s continuing to get better every single game,” said Cooper.
Well, Cooper was not alone. Indiana Fever star and arch-rival Sophie Cunningham, too, praised Reese’s impact on the league. Thus, win or lose, one thing is clear. One just cannot keep Angel Reese out of the spotlight.
