Angel Reese has been having quite a busy week recently. With her younger brother landing an NBA deal, the Chicago Sky star has extended her support publicly. Furthermore, she also suited up for her Unrivaled team, Rose BC, which unfortunately, ended up in a defeat. However, amidst all of the action, one possibility of lack of action is haunting the WNBA realm.
As the union’s tussle over equal pay with the league continues, the start of the season is now looking doubtful. Recently, the league submitted a new proposal for the players. But as per Alysha Clark, the WNBA proposal was not enough for the players to step down from their demands. And as per Reese, there is no point in compromising till all the stipulations are met.

Angel Reese Wants The Negotiations To Continue Further
The Chi-Town Barbie has been an active supporter of pay equity in the past. During the All-Star weekend, the 23-year-old star made news for her ‘Pay Us What You Owe Us’ t-shirt. Now, as things are threatening to fall off the cliff, the Sky star is keeping a strong stance.
According to Kareem Copeland on X, formerly known as Twitter, the 2-time WNBA All-Star said, “Everybody wants to play but all of us want to play at what we should be compensated for. So we’re just going to continue to negotiate. Negotiation is not easy. I talk to my team all the time, when I negotiate deals, you go back and forth until you come to a common ground of what we both can go for.”

The Bayou Barbie further promised that she will continue to push for equal pay from the league. Using her fame and popularity as a platform, the 2025 Unrivaled champion vowed to get to the end of the matter. Currently, Reese is with Team USA as she is training for the upcoming FIBA World Cup Qualifiers next week.

Meanwhile, this was not the only time the 2024 WNBA All-Team Rookie took a strong stance on the CBA fiasco. Last year, too, Reese clarified what exactly the players wanted. Surprisingly, her arch rival, Caitlin Clark, too, agreed with the Chi-Town Barbie.
Why Did Caitlin Clark Agree With Angel Reese?

Initially, the WNBPA asked for an overall 30% revenue share. But with the league unwilling to match the numbers, the union went down to 27.5% and now 26%. Yet, there has been no positive reciprocation from the league. All of these dramas have, in turn, put the functionality of the 2026 season to serious question.
Advocating for the league to get things back to normal, Reese said in December, “Everybody’s very intentional about what we want. We’re riding together on everything. So, I’m preparing for a season like everybody else, but it’s really important for us to come to a common ground that we can all agree on. It’s all fair, and everybody benefits from it.”

Clark seconded the idea, saying, “That’s what our fans crave — the product on the floor. That’s what the fans want to show up for. So, it’s business, and it’s a negotiation, and there has to be compromise on both sides. And we’re starting to get down to the wire of it.”
In a nutshell, players are eager to get back on court, entertaining the fans. But with the payments not up to the mark despite the recent boom, the 2026 WNBA season is still a mystery for everyone.
