More than the Chicago Sky vs. Washington Mystics result, one game incident grabbed the sports columns’ headlines: Angel Reese angrily smashing the clipboard. It was a shocking reaction from the Chi-Town Barbie that stunned everyone. The video went viral in minutes.
Many slammed the Sky forward for her behavior. The Two-time all-star agreed that the heat of the moment made her angry. She apologized for her action, but not without proving the reasons.
Angel Reese Provides Reason For Her ‘Clipboard Slamming’ Action
The incident took place with just 0.29 seconds on the clock. The former LSU star was walking back to the bench, angry at the referee’s call a possession ago. She slammed a clipboard down, held by Ann Crosby, VP of Basketball Operations for the Sky franchise.
Later, when she realized her action, she apologized on social media.
“Those **** were pissing me off. shoutout to Ann because she know it was the heat of the moment and she didn’t let me apologize because she knew! Not happening again tho,” she wrote in her post on X(formerly Twitter).
The Chicago Sky nearly turned the game in their favor with a great third-quarter performance against the Washington Mystics. The hosts, leading by five points at the half, were pushed to the wall by Chicago’s fiery comeback. In the close game, the Sky franchise had the momentum and were in command to get the win.

But in the closing moments, with 0.29 seconds to go and the game tied at 77-77, Ariel Atkins was whistled for a foul, handing the opposition a chance to take the lead. Reese was not happy with the call, and even Tyler Marsh took an official review, wasting his time-out for the same. Eventually, the call went in Washington’s favor, who finished the game with an 81-79 win.
Angel Reese’s Another Viral ‘Angry Moment’ In The 2025 Season
This is not the first wild reaction the former NCAA Champion has had this season. Her 2025 season started with a heated altercation with her longtime competitor, Caitlin Clark. In the season opener, the Iowa star committed a flagrant foul on the 23-year-old forward with a clear path to the basket.

After the hard foul, Angry Reese quickly got up and tried to confront her offender. While other players calmed down the situation, the event surely made a ‘spicy’ start to the 2025 season. Even though the Reese-Clark Rivalry is complete cinema for some fans, both players later declined any ‘ill feelings’ towards each other after the incident.
