Angel Reese is one of the most important names when it comes to the WNBA. Not only with her incredible showing on the court, but she has also expanded her boundaries largely outside of it.
Reese recently received a lot of praise after her Victoria’s Secret debut. She is also working with Reebok to launch special colorways of her exclusive sneaker collection. And surprisingly, despite her recent success, controversies have been a part of her WNBA career from the beginning.
Now, as the WNBA season has come to an end this year, the Chicago Sky’s performance has been nothing but dismal. And now the franchise is looking to revive itself next season. Amid this, Reese has once again spoken about something that might just land her in another controversy.
Angel Reese Reaffirms Her Support For TJ Weatherspoon
When Reese came into the WNBA, it was Weatherspoon who made her feel at home. And since then, their bond had only gotten stronger. Unfortunately, with the Sky not delivering the desired results, Weatherspoon was shown the stick immediately after her rookie year. Now, after so many days have passed, it looks like Reese’s admiration for Weatherspoon has not diminished by an inch.

In a recent episode of the ‘Unapologetically Angel’ podcast, the Chi-Town Barbie said, “I think it made my rookie year pretty easy because I had a coach that already played the game, already knew what it was, and could keep it real because you’re a player’s coach. You know what we like, what we don’t like, what we want to do, what we don’t do, and how we can approach the game rather than somebody that hasn’t played before.”

Reese further reiterated, “That’s why I kind of respected Rob and Spoon so much, because you guys have played the game, Spoon won the championship. Just being able to see that part of it was really important.” Surely, such a statement might invoke a bit of controversy. At the moment, it is Tyler Marsh who is at the helm and will look to make the Chicago Sky overcome the jitters this season.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Reese has spoken candidly about her team. Recently, as Sky faltered, Reese’s comments about Courtney Vandersloot almost ruined their relationship.
Angel Reese Showed Love For Teresa Weatherspoon After Chicago Sky‘s Win
The Chicago Sky had one of the worst campaigns this year. Raking up losses, the team looked pretty lacklustre in their approach. However, back in late August 2025, things seemed a bit better for the team. Squaring off against the defending champions New York Liberty, Reese and co. pulled off a stellar 91-85 win.
Together with Kamilla Cardoso, Reese heaped up 43 points to seal the victory. Following the win, as the Chi-Town Barbie was huddling with her team, she saw Weatherspoon in the crowd.

Wasting no time, the 23-year-old rookie star ran to her ex-coach and shared a warm hug with the entire arena applauding the adorable moment. Thus, while Reese still seems to be pretty much attached to Weatherspoon, it remains to be seen how she performs in the next season.
Reese did not seem happy at all with how her team performed this year. In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, the 23-year-old stated that the head coach must have been a bit more strict with the players to bring out their best.
