Angel Reese is not letting numbers define her or her teammate Kamilla Cardoso. With All-Star voting underway, both Chicago Sky players are outside the top 10. But that hasn’t stopped Reese from speaking out.
While their win-loss record may not turn heads, the duo’s hustle does. Together, they continue to deliver strong stats and smart plays. And in doing so, they are demanding the attention they rightly deserve, both on and off the court.
Angel Reese Backs Kamilla Cardoso In All-Star Bid With Bold Message
Reese isn’t waiting on fan votes to show support. With fans still voting for All-Star, the Chicago Sky forward is stepping up. She’s using her voice to highlight the strong case her teammate Cardoso has built this season.
Despite their high confidence, Reese is ranked 13th in the voting chart, whereas Cardoso ranks 22nd. During a recent post-game presser, Reese made a bold and confident comment advocating for the All-Star nod.
“We’re All-Stars and we’re gonna continue to prove it. Obviously, this is the last week for All-Star voting. Kamila, she should be an All-Star, it’s her first year. She could have got it last year with injury, but she should be this year.
I think we’ve had up and down games obviously, but being consistent and coming out every night. She’s been consistent, obviously she’s going away, but that doesn’t take away from what she’s done. Her, me, Ariel [Atkins], we belong,” Reese said after the Sparks game.

Angel Reese Terms Herself And Teammate Kamilo Cardoso ‘Lucky’
While she herself is on a historic run, Angel Reese didn’t hold back when talking about Kamilla Cardoso’s growth. After the Sparks game, she said, “We got lucky.” That was in response to LA passing on Cardoso at No. 2 in the 2024 draft. The Sparks chose Cameron Brink, who has since suffered an ACL injury.
Reese praised Cardoso’s career night, but her words carried a message. Chicago grabbed Cardoso at No. 3, a move that’s looking smarter with each game. Reese followed up with a tweet that read, “BIG MILL NOT THE LITTLE.”

The Sky selected Reese with the No. 7 pick, forming a powerful rookie core. Both players were praised immediately after the draft. They’ve continued to live up to that praise in their sophomore season.
Cardoso is averaging 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game this year. Reese has posted 13.0 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 5.6 assists over her last five games. These numbers reflect how much they’ve grown.
Yet, they both remain outside the top 10 in All-Star fan voting. Their firm belief fuels their game and makes their All-Star campaign stronger.
