The FIBA World Cup games in Puerto Rico had been very intense and showcased top-notch basketball action from the players. On day four of the tournament, Spain joins Team USA as a qualified team for the 2026 World Cup competition in Germany. Team USA had already booked its ticket to the competition and yet played its qualifying games to give its rookies, like Kiki Iriafen, Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, and Angel Reese, an experience in international basketball.
The rookies, though, shone on the biggest stage, leading the team in multiple stats for the competition. USA Basketball’s legendary star Lisa Leslie even called Clark and Reese worthy successors to the players of the Golden era of USA Women’s basketball.
But the Chicago Sky star’s recent video contradicted her claims, and fans also slammed the forward for her missed shot.

Fans React To Angel Reese’s Missed Layup
While an awkward tension between Caitlin Clark and Reese is going viral during the FIBA World Cup qualifiers, there is one more clip that highlights a simple layup miss by the forward in the recent game.
Playing high pick and roll with the Fever playmaker, the former LSU star marched towards the basket, asking for the ball. CC dropped a pinpoint bounce pass to the star, which froze the opponents, leaving an open basket for the forward. But in momentum, she missed the layup and couldn’t even get the rebound.

Not only did the player miss an open layup, but leads the team in unwanted stats in 2026. Despite playing for 48 minutes in three games, the forward collected the highest number of fouls on the team and was even on the verge of direct ejection in a recent game.
Angel Reese’s Mother Not Happy With Officiating
Playing under the rim, hustling for the rebound, and blocking attracts fouls. But the Chi-Town Barbie played for only 48 minutes across three games and collected 10 fouls, four of which came during the game against Puerto Rico, putting her on the verge of direct ejection.
In just 16 minutes of gameplay, she was on four fouls, as the FIBA rules hand direct ejection following five fouls. Her mother shared a post on social media showing her ‘discontent with the officiating’ and wrote, “These FIBA refs.”
