Back from the All-Star break, Angel Reese led Chicago Sky looked to improve their season performance. But the game against the top seed Lynx was always going to be difficult, and they lost by 23 points. Sadly, that was not the only concern for the franchise.
The team could be without their star Angel Reese in one regular-season game if the forward receives one more technical foul in the next games. Ironically, the player was saved by a rule change for the 2025 WNBA season.
Angel Reese One Technical Foul Away From Suspension
In the 40-game season until 2024, the WNBA player received an automatic one-game suspension following seven technical fouls, per the league ruling. Since the number of games increased to 44, the threshold for the suspension also moved to eight technical fouls. Chicago’s 2024 rookie currently has seven technical fouls, including the one she received against the Lynx in the first quarter.
This puts her at the risk of missing one game if she commits another technical foul. Most of her technical fouls were due to her reactions to the referee’s decisions.
The 2024 rookie picked up a technical foul after getting fouled herself as she looked to score a layup. While it was a common foul on the opponent, the two-time All-Star was seen talking to referees, with the Lynx player nearby. Officials had had enough and called a tech foul on Chi Town Barbie.
The player received her first technical foul on the season’s opening day in her infamous incident with arch-rival Caitlin Clark. She blasted the Fever guard on the court and was held back to avoid serious consequences. Now, after 23 games, she is on the verge of a game suspension.

Angel Reese Continues To Dazzle On Court
The LSU star is a competitor on the court and never shies away from the challenges. This behavior might have attracted a few fouls, including the tech fouls mentioned above. But the 23-year-old delivers her best in every game. In her first match after the 2025 WNBA All-Star break, the struggling team was against the Lynx, 2024 finalists and top seed in the league.

The forward was up for the challenge and put up a solo fight against the top side. She recorded her 10th straight double-double performance, with 11 points and 11 rebounds. This makes her the only player in league history with a streak of 10+ double-double stats on multiple occasions. It was just another milestone in her record-breaking season.
Despite her efforts, the Lynx utterly dominated the Sky, highlighting many loopholes in the team’s preparations. Now with 21 games left in the season, the side is already four games behind the playoff contention.
