The Chicago Sky set an unwanted record in the 2025 season with the longest losing streak. A loss against the Phoenix Mercury was the team’s eighth straight loss. Angel Reese missed four games in that run following a back injury.
Both Kahleah Copper and Alyssa Thomas were dominant on the night, leading the visitors to a decisive 16-point win. Later, the pair chatted and hugged Sky’s injured forward, and they also shared greetings with her veterans.
Kahleah Copper And Alyssa Thomas With A Touching Message For Angel Reese
Alyssa Thomas extended her triple-double record in the league with a 10-point, 10-assist, and 10-rebound game. While she was effective in the match-up, Kahleah Copper was clinical with her shooting, with 21 points against the Sky team.
After the final whistle, both veterans met AR5, who was on the sidelines supporting her team. Still nursing her back injury, the star forward shared a heartwarming time with the veteran players. In the postgame interview, Copper and Thomas informed the media of their interaction with the former LSU player.
“Just keeping that line of communication open. There aren’t too many vets in this league that look out for the rookies. So you know how it feels to be a rookie and to have to navigate through injuries or personal things. I take pride in mentorship and being there for young players,” the 30-year-old star told the media. (Via X/ItsCwaysWorld).

Though Thomas didn’t speak, her nod just showed her acknowledgement of her teammate’s answer. Interestingly, the triple-double queen was the 2024 rookie’s teammate in the recent All-Star game. Mercury’s 2024 leading scorer also played with Chi-Town Barbie at Unrivaled, sharing a special bond.

Possible End Of Season For Angel Reese And Co.
As mentioned earlier, the Chicago Sky has been on a poor run, and their eighth consecutive loss just highlights their struggles. Apart from Kamila Cardoso and Reese’s double-double stat lines, there are hardly any encouraging signs for them. Rookie Hailey Van Lith showed some spark, but has a lot to run.

Ariel Atkins’ inconsistency and Vandersloot’s injury hampered Tyler Marsh’s team. The team won just 25% of their games so far and stands 12th in the league. With just 16 games remaining in the season, Angel Reese’s side has just a scope of losing a maximum of two games to make it to the postseason. The 2021 WNBA Champions will be back on the drawing board for the upcoming season after two blockbuster draft nights.
