The WNBA CBA negotiations are getting intense. The players showed clear intentions during the All-Star game with ‘Pay Us What You Owe Us.’ The league is looking to find a solution before the end of the season, and there are just around two months left. The 2024 rookie Angel Reese was also vocal about the pay raise.
The star discussed the WNBA players’ pay on her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, where she spoke openly about her salary and briefly explained the issues with her own example.
Angel Reese Opens Up On Her ‘Low’ Salary
As part of the CBA deal, players’ requirements included multiple points like family planning, schedules, salaries, prioritization, and better training facilities. While both parties partly agreed to most of the points, profit sharing and prioritization are stumbling blocks in the finalization.

The major concern is profit sharing. Currently, the players are earning around 9% to 10%, which is the lowest in any pro league in the States. The league is failing to formulate the WNBPA’s demand to increase profit sharing, halting all the talks. Many players, including vice president Breanna Stewart, talked in detail about their pay raise requirement. As per reports, the players have rejected a 4X salary and are still demanding a revenue-sharing model.
In between these, Reese explained the pay situation in simple words. During her live Instagram broadcast, she mentioned that her WNBA salary won’t even pay her bills. The seventh pick in the 2024 WNBA draft has a rookie-scale contract starting at $73,439 in her rookie season. As per the star, it won’t pay up even her rent.
Reese told fans that her $73,000 salary did not cover her $96,000-per-year rent and everyday bills 💰
