Angel Reese has created a buzz ever since she joined the Chicago Sky last year. And while she has been doing some phenomenal things outside of the basketball court, the criticisms and negativities have continued to plague the 23-year-old. Reese recently warned fans against fake news after the week’s earnings comments. And this wave of fake news and misrepresented comments has made the Sky star fearful.
Such a scenario has prompted the WNBA star to seemingly accept fines from the league rather than appear for post-game interviews. Reese also pointed out that at this moment, she is doing limited media interviews to evade any unnecessary controversies.
Angel Reese Tracks Back On Chicago Tribune Fiasco
Reese appeared in an interview with the Chicago Tribune early in September. However, when asked about her teammates’ ability to help the team, the Sky star made a controversial statement. Her statement quickly went viral, and Reese faced heavy criticism online. After noticing the incident, Chicago Sky officials suspended Reese for her comments. However, in a later interview, the Sky star said people took her statements out of context.

Reiterating on the incident, Reese gave a detailed reaction to the recent episode of her ‘Unapologetically Angel’ podcast. Reese said, “Even before the game, like I’m terrified of what the media is about to ask. Like it could be the nicest question, but it’s going to get flipped or put into a different light or a different perspective. And it’s like, are you here intentionally to start mess or are you intentionally here to ask the question? Seriously. I’d rather take the fine sometimes rather than talking to the media because it always gets flipped. And I think that’s where media has gotten these days.”

The Chi-Town Barbie also said people twist everything she says on the internet. Thus, it is a safer option for her to interact the least with the media. Meanwhile, as Reese’s exit interview sparked significant trade rumors, Etan Thomas did not like what she said about her teammates to the Chicago Tribune.

Etan Thomas Does Approve Angel Reese ‘Bad-Mouthing’ Her Teammates
Reese’s interview with the Chicago Tribune went viral within moments. The 23-year-old allegedly stated that the head coach needed to be more strict with the players in certain situations. She also pointed out that the likes of Courtney Vandersloot were ‘old’ and might not be coming back for the next season. Her comments created such a ripple effect that rumors spread about the Chicago Sky parting ways with Reese. And looking at the situation, former NBA star Etan Thomas did not approve of the same.

“I would say as a rule, I would say that you never talk bad about your teammates to the media,” He said. “I would say that a better way to say the same exact message that she was conveying would have been, ‘We need to get better, we have to do better next year’. We cannot and use ‘we’ over and over again,” said Thomas.
Thus, it is evident that Reese and controversy have been going hand in hand so far. Now, fans will see how she blocks out the noise and continues her good work.
