Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky had a tough outing on Friday as they suffered their 11th loss of the season. The Sky lost a closely contested match against the Golden State Valkyries with an 83-78 score in their very first meeting.
But even in defeat, Reese shone for the Sky. She put up an impressive show for the windy city and scored 17 points while grabbing 18 rebounds in her 34 minutes of play. Despite the push, the Sky’s record now sits at 4-11, putting them below the playoff line. However, the game night saw Reese clutch a unique WNBA record, all with her impressive rebound tally.
Angel Reese Adds Unique WNBA Record To Her Name
Angel Reese has been performing remarkably in the last two games. She became the first player in WNBA history to record 35 points, 35 rebounds, and eight assists in just a two-game span. In June alone, she has racked up 111 rebounds, an astounding 32 more than the next closest player, rookie Kiki Iriafen of the Washington Mystics.
Additionally, DraftKings took to their official X(formerly Twitter) account and praised her “1 of 1” achievement.

Even though the Sky didn’t get the win, Reese showed her true grit, particularly in the final moments of the game. She made some key plays, grabbed offensive rebounds, and scored crucial baskets that kept her team in it until the end.
However, Reese will face the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday. With her strong performances lately, she’ll be hoping to lead her team to a much-needed win to head into a comeback for the rest of the season.
LSU Hypes Up Angel Reese After Her Sky’s Loss Against Valkyries
In her last three games, Reese has an impressive average of 15 points and 18 rebounds. Although she had a shooting percentage of just 43.8% (7-for-16) in this latest game, she was efficient at the free-throw line. The Sky rookie managed to hit one of two 3-point shots. Despite an unfortunate defeat against the Valkyries, Reese got some positive hype from her former team.
“Nothing new for our double-double queens tonight,” LSU Women’s Basketball wrote on X(formerly Twitter).
However, Reese spent two years at LSU from 2022 to 2024. She helped the team clinch the national title in 2023 and received the Most Outstanding Player award during the tournament.
