The Chicago Sky’s current season was one of the worst for the team. With just nine wins and 27 losses, there was very little to talk about their performance. As the Sky is now eliminated from the WNBA playoff race, the remaining games have become more of a formality. And this is exactly what the biggest challenge would be for Angel Reese and Co. going forward.
Keeping their motivation intact despite being ousted from the competition is a tough task. But for the fans, a strong late-season push will surely bolster the team’s confidence going into the next season. Reflecting on this, the 23-year-old star got honest about what keeps them going.
Angel Reese And Co. Will Play For The Love Of Basketball
Reese and her team had yet another disappointing outing against the Connecticut Sun. Putting up a lacklustre show, the Sky lost the game with an 84-94 scoreline. The 23-year-old herself had a timid outing, dropping just 11 points. Coming to the post-game presser, Reese was asked about how the team will maintain its motivation in such tough times.

Chi-town Barbie immediately stated that playing in the WNBA itself is a blessing. To go up against the best in the sport every day is not something that many people have the privilege to do. She further stressed that despite the results, it was the love for the game that would keep them going.
“We love professional level, play against the best talent every single night. Not everybody gets this opportunity, so we don’t take it for granted. Um, and that’s that’s why a lot of us out here do it. Everybody has their own reasons that they play this game. And I think we just come together collectively. We know that we love it,” said Reese.

Reese was not bluffing, though. Just the other day, the Sky put up a stellar show and pulled off an upset victory over the defending champions, the New York Liberty. Meanwhile, as the team struggles to keep its motivation in place, the 23-year-old has a couple of dreams that will keep her going.
Angel Reese Speaks About The Driving Force In Her Career
Reese recently shone bright with a rookie feat despite their loss to the Sun. Moreover, she also holds some of the most impressive records in the history of the WNBA. For example, the 23-year-old is the fastest to reach the 600 rebounds and 600 points mark. Apart from that, the Chi-town Barbie is also the second-youngest WNBA athlete to clinch a triple-double. But despite all these feats, personal accomplishments do not appeal much to the Sky star. Instead, she recently spoke about a couple of her dreams that serve as her driving force.

“I don’t really care about records—I just want to win a championship. The two most important goals for me before the end of my career are winning a championship and playing on the Olympic team and winning a gold medal,” said Reese, as quoted by ELLE.
Surely, both dreams are quite feasible for Reese to achieve. After all, she is just 23. And with the type of form she is showing now, it might just be a matter of time before the Chicago phenom has both her dreams fulfilled.
