Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese’s domination on the court has earned her a reputation. On Sunday, she made history for it. Reese hit the floor for the Chicago Sky’s game against the Minnesota Lynx but was unable to avert an 80-75 loss to begin their four-game road trip. Despite Reese’s best efforts, the Sky’s record fell to 5-12 in 2025.
Sky performed really well, but Chicago’s squad was unhappy with the refereeing. Reese, being vocal, was particularly unhappy. With the lack of foul calls they received for most of the game, she couldn’t keep it to herself when compared to Minnesota. And after Sunday’s game, Chicago’s second-year sensation ended with 16 points, 17 rebounds, and six assists. Like always, she wasn’t shy about criticizing the refs.
Angel Reese Doesn’t Care About Getting Fined
How games are refereed in the WNBA has recently become a point of discussion. The gap in free throws was one of Chicago’s main problems in Sunday’s defeat. The Sky only made 7 of 8 shots from the line during the game, while the Lynx made 14 of 17 tries, including 11 in the fourth quarter alone. Despite Chicago committing more fouls (17 to Minnesota’s 16), the nine-shot deficit prevailed, helping the Lynx pick up the win.

Reese, who is usually battling down low, only tried two free throws on the day and converted both. But it wasn’t enough. She wanted referees to know how bad they were officiating. She did it again afterwards. After the game, she answered about the situation and she didn’t hold back. Reese spoke to the media after the game about how tough it was for the Sky to play their game despite the major problems with refereeing.
“[The officiating] has to be fixed. And I don’t give a damn if I get fined, because that s*** cheap. And I am tired of this s***, because I’ve been nice and I’ve been humble with it, but I am tired of this s***,” Angel Reese said during the post-match conference.

“Unapologetically Angel” really suits her. The nickname really goes well with her personality. Till now, the league hasn’t decided on how much fine Reese will have to pay, but once decided, we will share more details. But one thing is for sure: Angel Reese will speak her mind no matter what.
Angel Reese Asks WNBA To Do Better
The post-match conference rant was not enough for Reese. After the match between Sky and Lynx, many fans noted what was going on during the game amid Reese’s frustration with officiating. On X (Formerly Twitter), a fan shared a photo of Lynx player Bridget Carleton fighting with Reese for a rebound, with the former’s left arm locked around the latter’s waist in an effort to gain momentum.
Reese believed it was ‘diabolical‘ for the way WNBA is officiating, given how much the league’s grown. With this one-word answer, she made her intentions clear. This didn’t finish here. Another fan claimed that the Sky star will be receiving a fine after her banter. But Reese, in her unapologetic fashion, just had three words for WNBA.
“idgaf. DO BETTER. @WNBA,” Angel Reese wrote on X (Formerly Twitter)
Reese received a $100 punishment in early June for “failing to make herself available to the media for interviews.” Another fine appears to be in the works for her, pending a decision from the WNBA.
