The Chicago-Wings have already been eliminated from the WNBA playoffs, but that is not stopping them from coming up with some surprises. Only recently, they took on the defending champions, the New York Liberty. And much to everyone’s shock, Sky went on to defeat the Wings. And a vital reason aiding their fantastic performance was Angel Reese’s form. Unfortunately, playing against the Las Vegas Aces, Reese failed to rescue her team. But managed to make history.
Reese has been one of the mainstays of Sky since last year. Having shown some significant improvements, the 23-year-old wanted to chip in with more. But a lingering back injury forced her to miss a chunk of the season. However, now that she is back, Chi-Town Barbie is once again on the run.
Angel Reese Makes Yet Another WNBA History
The superstar rookie has a lot of records to her name. Reese’s historic rookie feat recently shone bright despite Chicago’s 27th-season game loss. And continuing the trend, the 23-year-old once again added her name to the record books. Playing against the Las Vegas Aces, Reese contributed 10 points and 17 rebounds. Now, this stat line might not look like something utterly impressive. But this was enough for Reese to surpass the likes of Tina Charles.

The Chi-Town Barbie recorded a league-leading 20th double-double of the season. And that was not all. The star rookie also marked her 46th career double-double. Such a stat made Reese surpass the previous best from Tina Charles, who has 45 from the first two seasons. While Charles achieved the feat in 68 games, Reese has taken only 61 games to reach the milestone.

Surely, despite her injury setbacks, the Sky star has quite an impressive average. She has posted 14.3 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists in 27 games this season. Meanwhile, as the Chicago Sky continues to struggle, Reese recently reflected on what is keeping them going.

Angel Reese Shares Sky’s Playoff Elimination Motivation
The Chicago Sky once again faltered against the Las Vegas Aces. Falling 79-74, the Sky continued their run of woes. This is quite expected as the team is already out of contention. Under such circumstances, it is usually a tough task to keep oneself motivated. But that might not be the case for Reese and her team.

After their loss against the Connecticut Sun, the Sky star was asked how the team would remain motivated when the rest of the games are only a mere formality now. The Chicago star immediately stated that her teammates feel extremely blessed to be playing against the best teams in the WNBA.
“We love professional level, play against the best talent every single night. Not everybody gets this opportunity, so we don’t take it for granted. Um, and that’s that’s why a lot of us out here do it. Everybody has their own reasons that they play this game. And I think we just come together collectively. We know that we love it,” said Reese.
Well, with Chi-town Barbie looking confident, it would be interesting to see if the Sky can pull off more miracles. But one thing is for sure. With Reese in form, the Chicago Sky will look like an entirely different outfit next season.
