Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky are already eliminated from the WNBA playoffs. Yet the team is trying to keep their heads up and give the fans a run for their money. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, Sky has not been able to crack the winning code this season. And while they did manage to sneak out a victory against the Connecticut Sun, the game ended on a sour note for the team. That’s because officials suspended their cornerstone forward, Reese.
Chicago is getting the odd win here and there to make matters interesting as the league approaches the playoffs. While they unexpectedly defeated the New York Liberty, their recent 88-64 win against Connecticut will do them a world of good. However, with Reese sidelined for the next game, Tyler Marsh’s concerns will be elevated.
Angel Reese Suspended For Eighth Technical Foul
Reese played for 31 minutes and looked quite sublime in her efforts. She dropped 18 points with an impressive 13 rebounds to wind up the game. But sadly, this was just one half of the story. With the halftime approaching, the Sky sat comfortably with a 42-27 lead against the Sun. However, as the second quarter commenced, Chicago dealt with a teller blow.

Just as the second half concluded, a tussle involving Reese saw the officials assess the 23-year-old a technical foul. Fighting over a rebound, Reese smacked Aaliyah Edwards on the head, which in turn resulted in the foul. Incidentally, this was the eighth occasion when the Chi-Town Barbie received a tech call. And under the new WNBA rules, officials will automatically suspend any athlete who reaches eight technical fouls for the next game.

That said, the star guard would miss the Indiana Fever game. With the playoffs looming, the game will be very crucial for an injury-ridden Fever. However, the 23-year-old’s absence might give Stephanie White’s team some breathing room as they push for victory. Meanwhile, coming back to the Chicago Sky’s poor season, Chi-town Barbie has recently issued a stern warning to the team.

Angel Reese Might Leave Chicago Sky If This Condition Is Not Fulfilled
Reese has been looking quite impressive this year. Compared to last season, the Sky star has taken some significant strides towards bettering her shooting. As a result, Reese has drawn praise from Sophie Cunningham for her WNBA impact. However, with Sky faltering big time, the 23-year-old has issued a strict warning to her team. In a recent statement, Reese pointed out that the front office must add some strong talent to their roster. Otherwise, she might consider moving out of the franchise.

“I am very vocal about what we need and what I want. I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously, I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me. But while I am here, I’m going to try to stay open-minded about what I have here and maximize that as much as I can,” Reese said.
Surely, the Sky star has every reason to feel frustrated. While Chicago won the championship back in 2021, they had the worst season back in 2024 with a .310 win ratio. But things have further slumped now as the team is 9-30 so far. Thus, with so much going on, fans now wait to see whether the Sky can keep their star guard.
