Angel Reese’s comments once again divided the WNBA fanbase into two worlds, one supporting her views and the other criticizing her comments. Even though Reese apologized to her teammates for her words, many of her teammates expressed dissatisfaction.
While the organization took disciplinary action, the Sky confirmed suspending Reese for the first half of the game against the Aces. In the ‘no offseason’ podcast, hosts Sabrina Mercahnt, Zena Keitha, and Ben Pickman feared even severe actions.
Angel Reese’s Future With Chicago Sky In Jeopardy
The deep conversation revolved around the Chicago Sky and Chi Town Barnie’s contribution to the franchise. Everyone agreed that she is the most marketable face in the Sky locker room, but also a two-time All-Star without a playoff experience.

The hosts highlighted how poor the season was for the 12th-seeded Windy City team, pointing out that the team lost most of its games by 20+ points. To address the former LSU star’s request for reinforcements, analysts mentioned that the management doesn’t have picks to start rebuilding right away, and there are no pieces to attract top players either.
Looking at the situation, the question of whether AR5 will be part of the Chicago organisation or not pop up.
“Well, it will be very interesting to see how they build around Angel or if Angel’s still in that conversation to build around, and that’s going to be something we’ll have to see in the off-season this season. But for now, we’re putting that to bed. Hopefully, Chicago’s putting that to bed,” host Zena Keitha mentioned on the podcast.

The idea floated around was to use the most prized asset on the roster to get more draft picks or a mega package in return to start rebuilding the side without Reese. In his podcast, Jason Whitelock slammed Reese’s comments and added that no one wants to play with her.
LeSean McCoy Supports Angel Reese Amid Chicago Sky Controversy
While the star received criticism from all directions, there were some supporting hands, too. Former NFL Champion LeSean McCoy provided his views and mentioned that he understands her position, but her way of putting the subject ahead was wrong, and that caused the issue.
“I love what Angel’s doing on the court. She’s balling right now. Her running her mouth is matching her game. My thing with her is, if you feel like that, let your agent tell the team that. Why are you putting it out in the press? So your teammates can read it?” LeSean McCoy said on the Speakeasy podcast.
It will be interesting to see what the management decides over the future of the 23-year-old forward who is still on a rookie contract till 2026.
