The Chicago Sky has not been particularly impressive this season. Languishing in 11th place, the Sky has seven wins and 17 losses at the moment. And while they did have Angel Reese as their sole reason for pride this season, her injury has made things even worse. Looking for a helping hand, the Sky has recently signed a backup to a seven-day contract.
The 24-year-old previously played for the New York Liberty. However, on June 13, she was cut from the roster. And now, with Reese injured, the former Liberty star has found a way to get back into the WNBA. And quite expectedly, she is pretty much happy with how things have been going with the Sky so far.
Marquesha Davis Looking To Debut In Absence Of Angel Reese
The Chicago Sky received dreaded news recently. The mainstay of the team, Angel Reese, will be unavailable for their game against the Seattle Hawks. According to the team report, Reese is suffering from a back issue that has lingered for a long time now. After picking up yet another loss in their previous game, Sky is now desperately looking for wins. And with Reese sidelined, Marquesha Davis has the perfect opportunity to chip in.
Speaking about her initial days with the team, Davis stated that she had a warm welcome. She was happy to see that all of her teammates were concerned about her well-being and comfort. And thus, Davis just cannot wait to make her debut in Chicago’s colors.
“So when I first came and I walked into the room, everybody was like, one t-shirt? It’s Mark’s t-shirt by the way. So I felt a warm welcome from each and every person and everybody just making sure that, you know, I got what I need and that I feel comfortable. So it’s been great these past couple days just getting to know everybody,” said Davis. (via Chicago State Of Mind on X)

Davis had quite a decent outing for the Liberty. Drafted as the 11th overall back in 2024, the 24-year-old played for two seasons. Appearing in 29 games, Davis dropped 32 points with 15 rebounds and 111 minutes of game time. Incidentally, she also won the title during her time with the Liberty. Meanwhile, coming back to Reese, she is also on a high alert for suspension.

Reese already has seven tech fouls this season. The latest came in their loss against the Minnesota Lynx. Now, according to the WNBA rules, the Sky star will have to serve a suspension if she gets one more tech. Thus, it is evident that Angel Reese is in a bit of a fix. Now, fans will eagerly wait to see how things pan out for her in the future.
