The Chicago Sky once again ended on the wrong end of the game result against the Seattle Storm. This was their third loss against the Seattle franchise and fourth straight in recent games. Though the team has already been eliminated from the postseason race, Angel Reese shared a motivation that will keep the team playing in the next games.
However, it seems that only the former LSU star is taking up the responsibility of winning, while the rest of the roster is still underperforming. The recent loss against the Seattle Storm showed a massive gap between the players’ output on the court.
Angle Reese Shines Against Seattle Storm
The Windy City team’s poor performance in the 2025 season handed them a season-series wipeout against the Seattle Storm, Phoenix Mercury, Washington Mystics, Atlanta Dream, and Golden State Valkyries. While they have yet to record a win over the Indiana Fever and Las Vegas Aces, losses against these two teams will bring the ‘wipeout’ tally to seven teams out of 13.

The side is also just one loss away from an unwanted history of most losses in the WNBA season, held by Tulsa Shock (in 2011), Indiana Fever (2022) and Phoenix Mercury (2023). Despite this disappointing season, the only thing that shone the brightest was form of their franchise player – Angel Reese.
Reese has already surpassed Tina Charles in the Rookie double-double record and has now registered another double-double stat line against the Storm team. She scored 20 points and collected 10 rebounds in a game. This was her fourth 20+ points and 10+ rebounds career game.

Apart from Reese, only Michaela Onyenwere scored in double digits (11 points) while the bench combined for just 17 points. The struggles for Tyler Marsh’s team are shocking, considering the form of the two-time All-Star throughout the season. But the city honors the forward with a special gift.
Angel Reese Receives Special Gift From The City
The player has been a standout performer for the 12th-seeded team. Fans and Chicago shocked the team’s leading scorer and rebounder with a large billboard in the Western region of the city. The player got emotional by the gift and shared the photo on her Instagram story and wrote, “NEVER TAKING THIS MOMENT FOR GRANTED, BUT SO GRATEFUL. HAVING A NBA2K COVER & MY 1ST EVER SIGNATURE SHOE ON THE COVER IN THE CITY I PLAY IN! WOW”.

However, the team also needs to step up to the former LSU star’s level to pick up some wins in the remaining five games. The Sky franchise will host the Connecticut Sun next on September 3, before facing arch-rivals the Indiana Fever.
