The Dallas Wings’ win over the New York Liberty was influenced by many analytical factors. Points like Breanna Stewart’s absence, Paige Bueckers’ return, and Sabrina Ionescu’s surprising shooting slump impacted the game. But what stood out for the winners was Arike Ogunbowale’s offensive gameplay.
The 2019 rookie had a double-double outing at the College Park Center, with 20 points and 14 assists. But that’s not all. Her efficiency in the game sets a league record, helping the side to win the game.
Arike Ogunbowale Sets WNBA Record
The halftime 63-36 lead was an excellent sign for the hosts as the 2024 WNBA Champions struggled early in the game. The former Notre Dame guard recorded a double-double performance in the first half, with 15 points and 10 assists. With this, she became the first Wings player to register a double-double in one half.
To take things further, the star added five points and four assists in the difficult second half. She had just one turnover throughout the game. This makes her the only player in the WNBA with 20+ points and 14+ assists and one or fewer turnovers.
PB scored 20 points with six rebounds and four assists to complement the veteran star’s dream night. She also had just one turnover on a perfect night for the hosts. DeJonai Carrington led the game with nine rebounds, outplaying Jonquel Jones, who had seven rebounds.
The Wings now jump to 11th position, overtaking the Chicago Sky, with an 8-19 record. They will continue their four-game home stay next, hosting the Atlanta Dream (July 30) and Indiana Fever (August 1).

Arike Ogunbowale Has Had Mixed Season So Far
Even though the veteran star has been efficient and effective against the defending champions, her season so far has been very low-key, by her standards. The franchise’s leading scorer averages just above 16 points this season, which is less than her rookie season average. Moreover, the shooting percentages have dropped drastically, with the star netting 37% of her shots in 2025. Her career average had been around 40%.

Her back-court pairing with Paige Bueckers hasn’t been as successful as many hoped. Due to her inconsistency, the side struggled throughout the season. The four-time All-Star is even in trade talks, with the deadline date, August 7, approaching faster.
Yet her recent exceptional performances and high-scoring games against the Washington Mystics (27 points), Las Vegas Aces (26 points), and Minnesota Lynx (26 points) highlight her capabilities on the floor. Many Wings’ faithful will hope to see their franchise player improve on her record and help the team advance to the postseason.
