Awa Fam Idolizes A’ja Wilson
19-year-old Spanish sensation is on the verge of becoming the first foreign player to be the first overall pick in the WNBA. While Fam’s agent clarifies “top priority” amid speculation around 2026 WNBA draft participation, the player recently talked about a WNBA star she adores most.
“Of course, A’ja Wilson. I love her. I love her vibe off the court…She can do all things. She can shoot, she can defend, she can do amazing blocks, and she helps her teammates a lot. She takes a lot of responsibility, and when I was seeing the last playoffs, and I saw her, I would love to play like her,” Fam told the podcast host Hunter Cruse.
The star already won many accolades at a young age and has been playing professional basketball since she was 15 years old. Though she idolizes the Aces’ superstar, the Valencia star also has the ability to impact both ends of the floor and showcased her talent on multiple occasions.

Awa Fam Ranks Higher In WNBA Draft Picks
The 2026 draft class’s depth is confusing to many, with a minimum of 10 prospects vying for the top selection. Though WNBA Draft lottery winner Dallas Wings could choose just one player from the top candidates, teams like Lynx (2nd), Storm (3rd), and Sky (5th) won’t be disappointed with their picks.

As for the star, ESPN ranks her as the second pick in the draft, while the athletic and CBS Sports put her at the top of the draft selections. The forward has a strong resume and is still delivering at the highest level in Europe, making her a strong candidate for the top pick of the season, and even if she missed the ‘illustrious’ spot, she could be a contender for the Rookie of the Year accolade.
