A’ja Wilson’s impact on the Las Vegas Aces’ and WNBA’s success is undeniable following a record-breaking season and viewership stats in the 2025 playoffs. While the team performances handed the Aces their third WNBA title, the 29-year-old star won her second WNBA Final MVP following her individual brilliance.
As for the former Miami Heat star, Dwyane Wade, Wilson could beat an NBA player in a one-on-one matchup. She is that good at the moment and an unstoppable force in the ‘W’. But HC Becky Hammon has a unique analogy for the forward’s output in the Finals.
Becky Hammon Describes A’ja Wilson’s Record-Breaking WNBA Finals
In the 2025 WNBA regular season, the Aces rose to the second spot, behind a 16-game unbeaten run and the mammoth performances of former South Carolina star. Averaging 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 2.3 blocks – earning her unprecedented fourth MVP award. But, more importantly, the numbers increased in the postseason, as the team faced more formidable opponents.

While rising up to the occasion is one of her traits, HC Becky Hammon pointed out one unique analogy that made the 29-year-old unbeatable star. “I think the evolving of the game … these players are bigger, stronger, faster and more skilled. [Past] dynasties laid the groundwork and showed how winning should be done, and really gave a lot to the WNBA insofar as history. The skill set and level these guys are at, to me, it’s not comparable. … It’s a natural evolvement. That’s the sign of any great league; it doesn’t stay the same,” Hammon told ESPN.

Although the game and playing style evolved over the years, Wilson’s growth also deserves equal credit as the player put in extra efforts not only for herself but for the team, too. Veteran guard Chelsea Gray spoke about how the seven-time All-Star helped her work on her shortcomings in the 2025 season, which in turn benefited Wilson and the Aces.

The player has simple yet effective logic for success, as she said, “Good things happen to the right people. And that’s what you see in [our] locker room today.” While winning the third title in four seasons is not only a ‘good thing’ but a sign of a Dynasty in the league.
Nike Celebrates A’ja Wilson’s MVP Season With New Sneakers
The four-time MVP’s season is one of a kind that drew comparisons with multiple basketball greats like Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Even NFL Legend Tom Brady praised HC Becky Hammon and Wilson in the Las Vegas Aces’ post-WNBA championship message.
Global sneaker brand Nike was not letting this opportunity pass and quickly released a new variant for the A’Ones – MVPs. The “MVPs” colorway is an obvious nod to the Aces’ black and silver uniforms.
Also, just before the WNBA Finals, Nike released the “dyNASTY” colorway, already putting the league on alert for Wilson’s dominant Finals series. The variant had a regal shade of Sail, while Metallic Gold detailing provides a championship feel, which the Aces later captured in four games.
