The Las Vegas Aces advance to the 2025 WNBA semifinals with A’ja Wilson setting a record for most 30-point games in the playoffs. While the player single-handedly carried the Vegas side to the top of the league table, HC Becky Hammon had nothing but praise for her superstar.
Hammon is already backing Wilson to win her fourth MVP title, and now, talking on the ESPN show, she compared her to the NBA’s greats.
Becky Hammon Compared A’ja Wilson To Michael Jordan
The two-time WNBA champions Las Vegas Aces looked down and dusted at the start of the 2025 season. It concerned many fans with superstar A’ja Wilson also struggling to find her rhythm in the league. But in the second half of the season, they were an unstoppable force, winning 17 games in a row and racing to a second-place finish.

Wilson was at the heart of this impressive run, dominating both ends of the floor. Out of the Most Valuable Player race early on, the reigning MVP is now the favourite to clinch her fourth title, leading the five finalists recently announced.
If she wins the MVP award in the 2025 season, she could be the first WNBA player with four MVP awards, cementing her legacy as the greatest WNBA player of all time. The Aces HC went a step further and said, “If she’s the best ever to play in the WNBA, I could make a strong argument she is the best ever to walk this planet.”

Considering the fact that LeBron James and Michael Jordan are seen as the epitome of basketball players, Hammon’s statements certainly raise a few eyebrows. But there are numbers backing the former champion.
Records Keep Falling For A’ja Wilson
The former South Carolina star is writing the WNBA history books. On the verge of winning her fourth MVP award, the 29-year-old finished the regular season with 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. Despite the slow start, she won the scoring title for the second season in a row.
Offensively explosive and defensively strong, Wilson once again led the league in blocks, it was for fifth time in her eight-season career. Wilson also achieved a rare WNBA feat in the Las Vegas Aces’ victory over the Connecticut Sun, with massive production on the floor.
Only 29 years old, she places 21st in the All-time scorers table with 5719 points from only 267 games. The seven-time All-Star defensive player of the year won the award three times during her career, highlighting her general presence on the court.
Hammon stated that the dynamite star may break every available stat in the league.
