Becky Hammon has guided the Las Vegas Aces through a tough 2025 WNBA season, and her efforts paid off with the August Coach of the Month award. The Aces went 12-1 in August, the best mark in the league that month. Though Hammon openly blamed the Aces for the worst offensive night.
They ranked top five in scoring at 84.9 points per game, rebounds at 34 per game, blocks at 4.9 per game, and three-point shooting at 37.6%. They also led in limiting points off turnovers to 11.5 and blocks allowed to 2.4. Offensively, they were second in efficiency at 110.0 and fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.73.
Becky Hammon Coach Of The Month For August
While the tally looks as grolious, this is Hammon’s fourth Coach of the Month honor, tying her with Sandy Brondello and Bill Laimbeer for the most since the award started in 2017. She won in May 2022 as a rookie coach, June 2023, and September 2024.

However, Hammon joined the Aces in 2022 after eight years as an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs. As a player, she was a six-time All-Star and led the league in assists in 2007 with 5.0 per game. She’s in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame (class of 2023), Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame (2019), and Ring of Honor for the Aces and New York Liberty.

Becky Hammon Getting Support From Her Players

In the streak, she has posted big numbers, like 34 points against Atlanta on August 27 and 36 against Washington on August 23.
