The WNBA is seeking to secure the CBA deal on its terms and is awaiting a positive response from the WNBPA. An analyst recently slammed the WNBA for putting the league on fire with their tactics in the CBA discussions. While the league was doing its part in the negotiations, a letter from Breanna Stewart and Kelsey Plum raised concerns about player unity.
So far, the WNBPA has remained together on its demands and negotiations with the league, but the rift among the top management would loosen its grip on the negotiations. Amid this, the Liberty star addressed the issue, clearing any doubts in fans’ minds.

Breanna Stewart Backs WNBPA Policy Despite Leake Letter Drama
With March 10 as the final confirmation date for the new CBA terms, everyone was hoping to see positive and productive actions from both parties. While the league remained adamant about its revenue-sharing model, differences among the players complicated matters.
All this came to light with Stewart and Plum’s combined letter to the WNBPA higher authorities, and recently, the Liberty star spoke about the same.
“That letter was supposed to be in private,” Stewart said at a USA Basketball training camp.“Plum and I had some concerns we wanted to address with Terri and get the entire executive committee back on track, just making a path forward to get the best deal possible. Breanna Stewart Delivers Strong Message To Public
Caitlin Clark, Paige Buckers, and Angel Reese entered the WNBA as top players from college and new record holders in various categories. They were a real threat to the veterans in the league, who established themselves as ‘needle movers’ in the league with their multiple accolades and top-notch performances.

Now, many saw the rookies as the ‘change makers’ and capable of dethroning the vets earlier than expected. But on the court, it was A’ja Wilson who claimed all the WNBA accolades, and in the Unrivaled league, Chelsea Gray and Stewie remained an undeniable force, deciding the winner in the game.
Breanna Stewart even dropped a bold statement after winning the Unrivaled Season 2 as she said, “Pride myself on being a winner.” Although the young ones are rising, as of 2026, the vets are not going anywhere with their controlled game.
