The WNBA has been facing a lot of controversies in the recent past. While the missed CBA deadline had resulted in a possibility of work stoppage, names like Sophie Cunningham have sent a warning to the WNBA.
Unfortunately, amid all these fiascoes, recent incidents happening outside of the court have seemingly left the WNBA stars bothered. And as an active voice of the league, Breanna Stewart did not keep quiet and immediately stood up and took a stand.

Breanna Stewart Protests Against The ICE Killings
The United States of America has been rocked by the ongoing unrest in Minneapolis. In the most recent incident, a Border Patrol-involved shooting resulted in a man’s death. Identified as Alex J. Pretti, the man was alleged to have confronted the officers during a Department of Homeland Security operation.
Expressing her stance on the same, the New York Liberty star, who plays for Mist in the Unrivaled, had a strong message to share. Ahead of her game against the Vinyl BC, Stewart held up a sign that read, “Abolish ICE.’

Surely, this was pretty much in line with how the WNBPA has always been vocal about the social happenings outside of WNBA. Back in 2020, following the death of George Floyd, the organization supported the plea for a police reform bill.

“The growing epidemic of police violence against Black and brown people must end. It is up to us, the people of good conscience, to honor George Floyd, his daughter Gianna, and his family by continuing our push for comprehensive legislation to hold police accountable,” the WNBPA’s statement read back in 2020.

Meanwhile, coming back to WNBA, with the situation looking extremely grim, Stewart recently came up with some pretty upbeat news.
Breanna Stewart Hopeful Of Finding A Solution For The Ongoing CBA Stalemate
The WNBPA and the WNBA have been fighting for the players’ rights for the last 15 months. Unfortunately, with no viable solution being offered till now, players are very much concerned about their future with the league. Thankfully, speaking about the same, Stewart recently had some pretty good things to say.

Talking with FOS, the Liberty star said, “Unfortunately I wasn’t an economics major or anything like that, but we’re trying to get the best deal possible and we want to negotiate in good faith with the league. We’re hoping for some positive kind of change or reinforcement here. I feel like kind of. I’m just starting to see it (positive signs).”
